Groceries

Day 1 of Giving Back: December 1, 2017

Today is the first day of our Christmas Giving Back campaign and we headed straight to the grocery store!

Grocery shopping is something that I used to love to do… but then we had four young children that needed to come into the store with me...yay!! And to make it even more “fun” was trying to push that heavy cart through the parking lot that was full of snow, ice, and bumpy gravel.

Let’s add in a good wind chill to make the experience even more enjoyable on the children’s faces and fingers.

Day 2 of Giving Back: December 2, 2017

Our four children have all been in competitive sports since they were in kindergarten and they are all children in love with their game.

How can they love something so much?!?!

Of course it’s the sport itself, but it’s also the team, the friends they’ve made, the physical accomplishments they’ve achieved, and the fun!! Oh the fun!!!

With comfy seats on a warm bus (that literally had a HUGE TV streaming the live fireplace!), Christmas music playing on the speakers, hot chocolate in hand, yummy sugar cookies from a local baker, and oh….  a bus full of 32 beautifully aged humans... we were off for an evening of viewing Christmas Lights!!

Day 4 of Giving Back: December 4, 2017

Ohmygosh, I can’t even begin to tell you how many times in the past year I have felt like an exceptionally bad Mom. Opening up Wilhauk Beef Jerky in Spruce Grove has definitely been the biggest challenge our family has ever faced together… because it literally affects every moment of our family life.

Day 5 of Giving Back: December 5, 2017

We were so excited to be here today!!

Auggie’s Café is a gem in our community. People stop in for the food but it’s the smiles of companionship and warmth of acceptance that they come back for time and again.

And we hope to be back again soon too!

Day 6 of Giving Back: December 6, 2017

And let’s be honest, a Kindergarten Teacher is way braver than any Police Officer or Fireman!! Do you know how many mitts, touques, ski pants, and boots they help put on every day?!?! Jeesh!!

They are with our children more hours than we are in a day and they deserve more than we could ever give. Merry Christmas to all our community’s teachers!!

Day 7 of Giving Back: December 7, 2017

Can you imagine being away from your family for years at a time? Can you imagine working two jobs at once so that you could save up money to go home… just for a visit?!?! All the while, sending half of your earnings home to help the people that you left behind?

So many people in our community are doing this right now, including our Ryan and today we gifted him a flight home to the Philippines.

Day 9 of Giving Back: December 9, 2017

Nothing we have ever done can compare to what you have chosen to do with your lives. We make beef jerky, you save lives. Can you imagine the magnitude of working somewhere where you literally see people at their very worst, all the time?

Our little community hospital in Stony Plain, Westview Health Center, is full of Doctors and Nurses who choose to work irregular hours, shift work, weekends, and holidays and we are blessed to have them so close by.
